Service — Roofline Repair
Fascia
Board
The structural backbone of your gutter system. Rotted or damaged fascia must be replaced before any new gutters are installed — we handle both, in one visit.
What Fascia Does
The Foundation Your Gutters Depend On
The fascia board runs along the lower edge of your roofline — it's the surface your gutters mount to, the barrier between your roof structure and the weather, and the finishing trim that defines your roofline appearance. When it fails, gutters sag, pull away, and eventually fall. We inspect fascia on every estimate and repair or replace what's needed before installation begins.
- Primary mounting surface for all gutter hanger hardware
- Seals the roof rafter tails from weather exposure
- Prevents pest access to the roof structure
- Defines the finished appearance of the roofline
- Must be structurally sound before gutters can be properly pitched
- We assess and repair in the same project visit as gutter installation
Warning Signs
Signs of Fascia Damage
Soft, discolored, or spongy wood indicating water damage and structural weakness — the most common result of overflowing or improperly pitched gutters.
Gutters pulling away from the house are almost always attached to compromised fascia that can no longer hold the hanger load.
Paint failure on the fascia directly behind gutters exposes bare wood to moisture — an early warning sign before rot sets in.
Carpenter ants and termites target wet, softened wood. Active infestation in fascia must be addressed before any gutter work.
Splits, gaps, and separations — especially at joints and corners — compromise both structural integrity and weather protection.
Nesting materials or organic debris lodged behind the gutter indicates gaps and damage that allow water intrusion.
Materials
Fascia Board Material Options
Natural beauty, accepts stain/paint, sustainable. Classic choice for traditional homes.
Requires periodic repainting. Higher maintenance than composite.
Superior rot resistance, ideal for high-moisture areas. Cost-effective longevity.
Must be painted or sealed. Can be heavier than standard wood.
Zero maintenance, never rots, color-through construction. Best long-term value.
Higher upfront cost. Doesn't accept wood stains.
Aluminum wrap over existing board — preserves sound wood, stops moisture infiltration immediately.
Wood substrate must be structurally sound for this option.
Repair vs Replace
What's Right for Your Property?
- Small isolated areas of surface rot less than 2 feet
- Paint failure without underlying wood damage
- Minor cracks or splits at joints that are otherwise sound
- Fascia that is structurally solid but cosmetically damaged
- Properties where matching existing wood profile is critical
- Rot extending more than 50% through board thickness
- Active insect infestation in the wood structure
- Gutters pulling away due to failed hanger attachment
- Multiple sections affected — more cost-effective to replace run
- Any fascia that is soft or spongy to the touch
- Prior repairs that have failed or show recurrence
